Puyravaud is situated at the heart of the Charente region of France, some 7 hours drive South of Calais. As such the region enjoys better weather than many more Northerly fisheries
and is an ideal location for families and expert fisherman alike.
The property is situated close to the picturesque village of Vitrac St Vincent with its ancient church and picturesque outlook. Close by is the historic town of La Rochefoucauld with its 11thCentury Chateau, owned by the same family for the last 500 years. The Chateau is full of interesting historic artifacts and is a must see for any visitor.
Within 25 kilometres is the walled city of Angouleme with its old quarter and excellent restaurants (fantastic for fresh seafood from the nearby Marennes region -the best oysters in France). Every September the city plays host to a unique car rally and street circuit race called the "Circuits des Remparts". Plenty of great shopping is available and make sure you time your trip to take in the lively cafe culture in the old quarter.

Slightly further afield is the busy town of Cognac(45 minutes drive) with its many famous cognac houses. We can recommend a tour of the Martell factory, which describes the history of cognac making that dates back to the 18th Century. There's even a tasting to round off a thoroughly interesting and informative tour. Remy Martin also run a good tour with a train ride around the grounds passing the vineyards and visiting the old cellars, finishing off with a nice cocktail making session. Cognac town has a thriving square full of cafe's and restaurants for a very french style lunch or dinner.
Other destinations include La Rochelle, the Bordeaux wine region, the pottery city of Limoges and literally hundreds of picturesque French villages, each with their own style and character for you to explore.
